Unladylike (Pirate! Hetalia x Modern! Reader)

You were currently laying on a mattress in one of the ship's cabins, switching between books and items to look at. When you were informed that the journey to England was going to take months, you flipped and threw a small tantrum while Alfred tried to tame the fire that had just spawned. If you were going to travel to England, it would've taken less than a day by air; but no- you were stuck on a wooden ship. Fortunately it was actually quite fun on board, everyday was nearly like Christmas from all the feasting and games everybody played. This never crossed your mind before, but you were eventually being accepted as part of the crew and not going around as just a ditsy girl.

Flicking through the thick beige pages in a dusty novel, you could only understand half of what was written... At least that was the only thing you could do in the small room you were loafing around in.

Your bag was kept stashed away in a secret hiding place where nobody could get their hands on for now, so you didn't have to worry about that. Right now you could only wait for Alfred to finish his errands or something and then go look for him to hang out.

The constant soft rocking of your surroundings once made you walk like a drunk person, but keeping yourself on your two feet had become second nature once you had gotten used to it, allowing you to freely roam around the ship with no trouble. Slamming the book together with your two hands, you threw it back on the desk and hopped off the squeaky mattress to go search for your friend.

"Alfred!" You walked out of the door and into the hall, your loud voice amplified by the tight enclosure. Darting your eyes left and right, you spotted a blur that sped past in front of you which made you gasp from the inhumane speed.

"What the...?" you gulped, witnessing a couple of more of the same figure racing back and forth through to opposite rooms.

"Oh my god... Where is it?!" someone cried, making you light up and follow the source of the voice.

Wrapping your hands around the door frame, you peered into the room to lay eyes on someone's behind wavering right in front of you. Out of instinct you stumbled back and let out a startled squeak. The figure stood up from his bent over position and turned to you, immediately smiling as he recognized his sudden company.

"Oh, sup' dude!" he grinned.

You gave him a sheepish smile. "Hey. You just had your ass totally in my face there."

Alfred blushed and blinked furiously, bringing up his hand to scratch his head.

"O-Oh really? Oopsies. Hehe." he chuckled nervously.

Dismissing that with a wave of your hand, you tilted your head to the side to look at what was in the room he was standing in. There sat boxes and shelves of what looked like a million scrolls and pieces of navigational instrument that you weren't ever going to see in your lifetime... Until now. Everything clicked when you recalled Alfred telling you that the ship was going to sail, meaning that they would be in need of all that.

Your brows grew uneven as you caught the paper scroll scrunched up in his hand.

"Gimme that." you said, snatching the paper out of his grip. You revealed the content inside and burst into a loud laughter, constantly switching your gaze from the paper and to his confused expression.

"W-what... Hah... The fuck..." you wheezed out, completely out of breath from laughing. He widened his eyes at the profanity you used, but his lips did twitch upwards.

"What's so funny?" He asked you, watching you break down with an amused tone.

You wordlessly pointed to the poorly drawn map in your hands, your finger shaking from the vibrations pulsating through your body as you laughed.

"This is!"

Although you knew that people nowadays couldn't help it, but that map was pretty hilarious to you. Oh come on, give em' a break, it's the goddamn 17th century. You eventually calmed down and rested an arm on his shoulder, returning the map to him.

"Weh... Don't mind me." you breathed, patting him on the back.

*Time skip*

You dipped the quill into the ink pot and began drawing a brand new map for Arthur, even with all the lines of latitude and longitude. Proudly displaying the work to the captain, his eyes flickered in amazement at your top notch geography skills. He thanked you and tucked it in his pocket, making a mental note to himself to show it to the helmsman.

"Hehe. Knowledge is power and right now I'm the powerfullest!" you thought, snickering quietly at the last word as that memory from several days prior faded. You were resting your head on your hand, listening to the soothing splashes of the waves under the vessel. The never-ending blue that glimmered under the sun over your head was slowly lulling you to sleep, but something odd that had entered the picture snapped you awake from your daydreams.

A small dot the size of a rice grain sat on the waterline hundreds of yards away, and that stood out to you as you hadn't seen anything for the past weeks at all. Propping yourself up with your elbow, you rubbed your eyes to clear your vision.

The tiny rice grain sized 'thing' grew larger and larger, almost like it was coming towards you. It wasn't long until somebody screamed bloody murder, the tranquil atmosphere now gone under the waves. The crew member that was standing on the look out now jumped off and started to climb down the net-like ladder like a spider, gesturing you to get inside with his hand. He clutched the pair of binoculars in one hand as he took long strides to you, eyes wide like dinner plates and face painted with fear.

"Get inside, now." he demanded, pushing you down the stairs. He returned his gaze at the small object sailing closer and closer, the closer proximity now letting him clarify it as one thing and one thing only. He whipped his head over his shoulder and cupped his mouth, clearing his throat.

"ENEMY SHIP ON THE HORIZON!"

You gasped.

"HOLY SHIT!" you roared as you furiously stepped down the stairs, the rocking of the ship now growing more noticeable for you. Your heart was pounding violently in the constriction of your rib cage, allowing you to pump your legs through the vicinity. The predicament that you almost forgot about came beating at you back, plunging deep into you as a grim reminder like an arrow.

Only now did the hot water you were drowning in start to burn.

You were already dashing through the hall and repeating the message to every room and chamber. An exhilarating sensation had arose from the alarming news, especially when everything had been only fun and games.

"Incoming enemy ship!" You yelled at the top of your lungs, every soul on board responding with life. Everyone filed out of their rooms and came out as new men, all suited up with shining swords. By the time everybody had prepared themselves and stepped out onto the deck, ropes had already started to wrap around the ship, planks slamming down to let the intruding force sweep in. Loud shouts were heard, followed by the loud clanging of swords and yelps of the first unfortunate victims.

You threw your arms in the air and shook your head, retreating back into the interior to hide yourself. No way were you going in and getting caught in the crossfire.

Lowering yourself onto your knees to crawl under the Captain's huge desk, you decided to wait it out until the enemies left.

"Pirates always gonna battle some day or another..." you murmured, the faint battle cries and screaming fading down to a minimum as you shielded yourself under the furniture. Hopefully nobody was going to come in this restricted place.

You hoped at least.

Boots clacked together, the heels clicking on the wooden floor loudly as somebody entered the room. You widened your eyes and wrapped a hand around your mouth to prevent anything from coming out. From the time you spent with the captain, those were definitely not his. At least they didn't make same sounds that you heard around the ship.

"Hmm. Where did I leave it?" The words rolled off his tongue in an exotic accent, sending your heart to leap out of your chest.

"Shitshitshitshit." you cursed in your mind, praying to God that your presence would remain undiscovered.

The mystery man walked slowly around the room, each booming footstep increasing your already spiked heart rate. As if he was inspecting the room, he rummaged through the Captain's items without a care in the world and even slid a couple of things in his pocket.

"Ah. Maybe under the desk...?" the person mused, forcing you to bite back the screams lodged in your throat. You quietly looked to your right and your eyes rolled to the back of your head.

"I'm a dead man."

A small chest sat in the corner, the intricately designed box radiating a luxurious aura that was hiding a possible treasure with a golden lock. Obviously that was what he was looking for, and you were going to go along with it if you were just going to sit there. You glanced back at the object in the shadows, digging around your brain to try to think of an escape plan.

Maybe if you could just slide it to the corner of the room without him looking?

You picked up the chest quietly, your moist clammy hands dampening even more when you touched the cold wood. You ceased air circulation in your lungs to achieve silence, hearing nothing but two hearts beating at different paces.

You were the faster one.

Sliding the box to the corner, it hit the corner of a shelf with a soft 'clink' making you gasp softly at the involuntary noise you accidentally made. The man flinched, his eyes travelling to where you were staring at, the chest now in the light and glimmering from the reflective surface.

"Ay! There it is. Why didn't I notice before?" He let out a soft chuckle, bringing yourself to sigh in relief. The tenseness in your muscles loosened, your arms falling to your sides as you smiled softly at your quick thinking.

"Like I said, knowledge is power... And I'm the powerfulles-"

Not so fast.

Much to your surprise, he didn't walk out of the room like you expected to. Instead, his footsteps grew louder and louder meaning that he was coming towards the desk. He grew so close that the desk started to rattle, the little nooks and crannies on the table rolling around from his movements. You inhaled sharply and watched the right of the table, where he was standing.

The bottom half of his body came into view, and what you saw was literally a physical announcement of your death. His long slender legs were adorned with knee high leather boots, jet black leggings and his waist tied with a crimson red sash. A lengthy dark red coat draped down to his legs, suggesting that he wasn't just your cabin boy. Your heart skipped a beat when he bent down on one knee, his tanned face coming into view and raising it slightly in amusement.

"Maybe it's because someone's in the room with me!" He said.

He knew the whole time.

"Hola, hermosa." he winked, making you do a double take. You glanced over his elegant appearance, feeling a predominant sense of déjà vu all over again. His sun kissed skin confirmed of a foreign background, but those forest green eyes were another thing.

"H-hi!" you squeaked, slapping yourself over and over again in your mind.

A soft smile graced his handsome face and he reached for your hand with his gloved one, leading you out of your hiding spot with a tug. As if he had hypnotized you with his charm, he was able to have you open up to him without even trying.

"How about you play with Captain Toni for a while, chica?"
